History and Structure

CMeRC was established as a collaborating Agency with the following constituent members: Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH), Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development (GDoHSD), National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS).

In general, CMeRC performs translational research for effective and efficient health service deliveries. The main areas of its competence include Translational research, Health Technology Assessment, Clinical economics, Evidence-based health care, and Medical Management.

The CMeRC has three constituent Units namely, Translational research, Health Technology Assessment and Clinical Epidemiology.  The CMeRC- HTA Unit is focused on the analysis of clinical, economic and impact resulting from the use of devices, practices and health care services.

The role of the unit of HTA is:

Mission
